Here is our Website / Print / Logo Design Project Planner
We sent this to clients to understand their requirements before we commence a website project.
This project planner will help organize the overall goals for your project, and it will help me to best understand your personal preferences and design style. Please take your time while thoughtfully filling out all of areas of this document that apply to your particular project. The more detailed your answers are, the easier it will be for me to bring your vision to life. J
How long have you been established? What are some of your goals? What’s your specialty, client demographic, etc.?
List 3-5 words to describe your brand and your project's overall desired look and feel (i.e. - light, dark, modern, vintage, minimalist, textured, organic, masculine, feminine, playful, grunge, etc…):
List the web sites of your top three competitors. How do you differentiate yourself from the competition?
The next two questions are silly, yet surprisingly insightful. J If your business were a song, what would it be?
If your business were a clothing store, what would it be?
Do you have a preferred color scheme already in mind for your logo? (ie: earth tones, pastels, jewel tones, etc.) If you already have a specific color(s) you want to use, please provide its hex #:
Do you have a preference for what type of font is used – serif, sans serif, script, etc.? Do you want a mix of fonts or all the same lettering?
Are there any symbols/graphics that you already know you for sure want incorporated into your logo design?
Show me at least five logos you love and explain what specifically appeals to you about them:

Will the text, photo galleries, other content, and/or page structure be remaining the same as your current site? If not, or if this is a completely new site, please provide this new content/text/etc:

What are the sizes/layouts chosen for your print materials?
Please provide the text content for the print materials you require and send me any high-resolution, 300 dpi images that need to be included:
At the end of a print design project, many of my clients prefer to have me also source and oversee the production of their materials since I have relationships with several printing companies/labs and will ensure that all items meet expectations. The cost for this equals printing expense + shipping + my time spent prepping and submitting design files (billed at £30 per hour). FYI, a total price quote and design proofs are presented to client before anything is sent to print.
Will you want me to handle the process of having your items produced?
If you will be handling the production of your items yourself, please list the companies you will be using for the printing of each item, and please also send me the sizing template files they provide:
In addition to completing this questionnaire, I also ask that all clients compile an inspiration board of images, color schemes, fonts, patterns, textures, etc. that you believe represents the overall look and feel you want for your project. Please make sure to invest enough time in this integral part of the project-planning phase. It will not only assist me, but it will also help you to discover your personal design preferences. Most of my clients prefer to use www.pinterest.com for gathering inspiration…just create a “pin board” for your project and “pin” images you come across online and add a brief comment about what exactly appealed to you about that particular item.
If you’ve chosen to use Pinterest for creating your inspiration board, please provide the link to your project board:
Some clients find it easiest to communicate via email while others like speaking on the phone and/or skype. I’m completely flexible and will do whichever the client prefers.
What is your preferred method of communication during your project – email, phone, skype, or if you’re local, do you want in-person meetings?
For your convenience, at any time you can phone or email to reserve a time for a phone or meeting / skype consultation. If you feel that we need to have a pre-design phone or skype conversation (in addition to this questionnaire) to go over project specifics, please schedule a time for me to contact you on your project’s designated start date or shortly thereafter.
Are there any other design needs I can assist you with?
Additional comments:
As stated in your project’s Service Agreement, it is crucial that all projects remain on schedule so that you and my other clients do not experience any delays in service. Please make sure to submit your completed project planner questionnaire and inspiration board for me to review on or before your designated project start date, and as always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions. I can’t wait to get started on your project!
